Abstract. The Li-Yau semiclassical lower bound for the sum of the first
N eigenvalues of the Dirichlet--Laplacian is extended to
Dirichlet-- Laplacians with constant magnetic fields. Our method
involves a new diamagnetic inequality for constant magnetic fields.
