On the Density of States for the Periodic Schr\"{o}dinger Operator

ABSTRACT.   Asymptotic formula for the density of 
states of the polyharmonic periodic operator $(-\Delta )^l+V $ in 
$R^n$, $n\geq 2$, $l\geq 1$ is obtained. Special consideration is 
given to the case of the Schr\"{o}dinger equation $n=3$, $l=1$, 
where the second term of the asymptotic is found.
