ABSTRACT.  We prove in this note that Markov transformations defined by 
infinitely many $C^2$ expanding branches $T_i : \Omega_i \subseteq 
\Omega \mapto \Omega$ in $\real^m$ $(m \geq 1)$ satisfying a 
bounded distortion condition leaves invariant a unique ergodic 
smooth measure.
