ABSTRACT.  We formulate an abstract fluctuation theorem which sheds light on 
mathematical relations between the fluctuation theorems of Bochkov- 
Kuzovlev, and Jarzynski, on one hand and those of Evans- 
Searles, and Gallavotti-Cohen, on the other.
