Schr\"odinger operators and de Branges spaces

ABSTRACT.  The general direct and inverse spectral theory of one-dimensional 
Schr\"odinger operators is discussed from the point of view of de Branges's 
theory of Hilbert spaces of entire functions. The emphasis is definitely 
on the inverse problem, but I also found de Branges's interpretation of 
the spectral representation (discussed in Section 3 of the paper) quite 
entertaining.
